Vitality Women’s FA Cup: Five FAWNL sides suffer upsets

Five FAWNL sides lost to lower division opponents in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup 1st Round Proper on Sunday 13 November.

Cardiff City Ladies eliminated Bridgwater United 4-0, Sporting Khalsa knocked out Boldmere St Michaels with a late spot-kick.

Cheadle Town Stingers put out York City on penalties, Leeds United beat Brighouse Town with the only penalty converted in a shoot-out, Sutton Coldfield Town profited from the spot against Leafield Athletic.

Gillingham avoided an upset at Millwall Lionesses through penalties, Ebbsfleet United lost out to Southampton Women’s after extra-time, Crawley Wasps late rally saw them overturn a 2-1 deficit to win 3-2 after extra-time at Moneyfields.

Stoke City progressed past Derby County on penalties, as did Dartford against Ascot United in sudden death.

Clapton had a great turnout of 460 but narrowly bowed out to Ashford United.
