#SBSSWPL: Celtic Women’s Lisa Robertson is league star in November

SBS SWPL POTM Lisa Robertson

Lisa Robertson of Celtic FC Women has been voted as the winner of the Scottish Building Society SWPL Player of the Month for November 2020.

The midfielder played every minute for Celtic last month as they picked up maximum points from four games. This included a 1-0 win over Rangers and a 6-2 hammering of Robertson’s former club, Hibernian.

Robertson scored a goal of the season contender in their victory over Hibs and played a vital role in the middle of the park throughout November as her side bounced back from defeat to Glasgow City on the opening day of the season.

Speaking from Celtic Park, Robertson said: “I’m really pleased to have been recognised and to win this award. November was a brilliant month for the team and I was delighted to play my part in our success.”

“I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for me and to my teammates. Without them, you don’t win individual awards.”

On the season so far, Robertson said: “The defeat to Glasgow City was disappointing but I think we’ve shown since that we’ve got the ability to bounce back and challenge this season against every team. The victories against Rangers and Hibernian in particular were massive for us. Not only has it put us in the running for the top places in the league, it lifted the squad as a whole.”

On top of winning the public vote, Robertson also came out with the most votes amongst the Head Coaches in the Scottish Building Society SWPL.

John Boyd, Glasgow Branch Manager for Scottish Building Society, said: “Congratulations to Lisa for winning the November award. She and her team enjoyed fantastic success last month and Lisa is a very deserving winner.

Also nominated for the November award was Lori Gardner (Motherwell), Rebecca McGowan (St Johnstone), and Tegan Browning (Boroughmuir Thistle).

“I’d like to add my congratulations to all the nominees for being selected as top players in the league for November” said Boyd. “I wish them and their teams all the very best for the remainder of the season.”
