England lost 2-1 to Sweden on Monday afternoon and their second place in the Nordic U-23 Tournament table was confirmed after USA beat Norway 1-0 to seal top spot.
Filippa Angeldal fired through the legs of advancing goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley to give Sweden the lead on 54 minutes.
However, just 7 minutes England equalised as Ella Toone scored from close range.
Despite the efforts of Baggaley, Julia Zigiotti Olme restored Sweden’s advantage on 77 minutes, which proved enough to secure the victory and their first points in the four-nation competition.
The USA later won the tournament after a 1-0 evening result against Norway in which Samatha Staab scored midway through the first half.
