Swansea City extended their lead at the top of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League after midweek matches.

The leaders were held up by their Thursday evening hosts, as Briton Ferry Llansawel kept the Swans at bay until the last 30 minutes.

Chloe Chivers then made the breakthrough, before Ellie Lake got the second, to ensure a ninth win in a row for Swansea City.

Third-placed Cardiff City FC had to twice come from behind to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Abergavenny on Wednesday evening.

Lyndsey Davies volleyed the hosts in front early on but the scores were level after only nine minutes, when Cath Walsh set up Phoebe Poole to score.

Amy Thrupp restored Abergavenny’s advantage before the break but Jasmine Simpson equalised with 15 minutes remaining.
