#WPWL : Cardiff Met open up six-point lead

Cardiff Met extended their lead in the Orchard Welsh Women’s Premier League with a 5-0 defeat of Llandudno, while second-placed Swansea City let slip a 2-0 lead at Cyncoed.

Cardiff Met made it six wins in seven against Llandudno, all the five goals coming inside the hour. Naomi Clipston claimed a hat-trick and Robyn Pinder bagged a brace.

Swansea City had to settle for a point at Cyncoed, where they surrendered a two-goal advantage. Stacey John-Davis had City ahead from a Sarah Adams ball, before setting up Emma Beynon to double the lead in the 33rd minute. However, 7 minutes later Swansea’s Shauna Jenkins was sent off for handball in the box and and Caitlin Bevan converted the penalty. Sophie Norman equalised in the last 20 minutes. the Swans’ Jodie Passmore then seeing her late effort tipped onto the crossbar.

Abergavenny jumped up two places to third, a point behind the Swans with a couple of games still in hand, after abruptly ending Port Talbot’s unbeaten start. Lyndsey Davies led the way with a hat-trick and Laura-Jane Davies got the other goal.

Rhyl went seventh on goal-difference as their second win of the campaign came on the long journey to Briton Ferry. Laura Williams and Ashleigh Mills were on target for the visitors, Ferry replying with just seconds to go.
