With August now here, many women’s teams took advantage of the chance to resume competitive grassroots games and kicked off their pre-season friendlies.
A number of FA Women’s National League sides were in action among teams from the Regional Leagues and County Leagues, with some mixed results.
Not all scores were given but those that were are detailed below.

North West League outfit Fleetwood Town Wrens pulled off a 2-0 result at Chorley, where Beth Gregory and Sophie Slater were on target, the latter on her debut.
An Amy Russ hat-trick saw Kent Football United win 6-3 at Eastern League side Bowers & Pitsea.
Middlesbrough’s Tyler Dodds got four in the 7-2 scoreline at Wallsend, a tally matched by Leigh McFadyen as Mersey Valley sunk Chester City 6-1.
Jade Widdows’ 30-minute second-half treble was a feature of Portsmouth’s 8-0 victory at Enfield Town.
There was three each also for Chesham United’s prolific scorer Gemma Fraser and debutant Karima Elouath, as they also netted eight against Sport London Benfica.
Nicole Barrett’s penalty earned Maidenhead United a hard-fought draw at Southern League Abingdon United.
