Wolves beat Burnley at Turf Moor in FA Women’s National League

Burnley v Wolves, FA Women's National League

Wolves bounced back after a big defeat by beating Burnley at Turf Moor in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

Nine-goal Nottingham Forest went top with a fourth straight win, Sophie Domingo scored three and Lyndsey Harkin made her 300th appearamce. Stoke took the points at morning leaders Rugby, Wolves beat Burnley at Turf Moor with Amber Hughes’ 17th-minute effort. Liverpool Feds’ first win came 4-2 at Hull City aided by a Rosie Kinvig double despite trailing 2-1 at half time, West Brom went fifth with four goals against Sporting Khalsa, Halifax got off the mark when holding Derby to a goalless draw.

Ipswich had five different scorers against Lewes, Exeter came from two down to win at Gwalia with the decider from Sarah Stacey. Jessica Francis-Weir’s brace was enough to give Billericay victory over Cheltenham, Wimbledon and Oxford played out a goalless game, Hashtag scored all five goals at Plymouth from set pieces, Watford put eight past MK Dons.

Northampton sank Notts County 7-2 with Jade Bell notching a treble, Hannah Fishwick hit a hat-trick for Leafield in the win over Worcester, Jess Collyer scored two of Loughborough’s three at Lincoln United. Evie Driscoll-King headed in an 87th-minute winner for Peterborough against Boldmere, Barnsley Women’s Jodie Snelson and Becks Hornsey hit the net at Solihull

Cheadle defeated Durham Cestria 4-2 helped by jess Gillin’s double, Chorley edged Huddersfield with an early goal, Fylde scores three unanswered goals against Stockport. Lucy Farrow scored a crucial third for the Belles as they narrowly beat Barnsley FC, York also won 3-2 away at Norton, likewise Middlesbrough at Leeds with a late Jess Mett goal.

Lauren Hailes scored half Norwich’s six at Ashford, Actonians put four past QPR, Millie Isherwood netted the decider as London Bees edged a seven-goal thriller with Dulwich. Chatham’s Lottie Sharp cancelled out Abbie Benstead’s penalty for a draw at Real Bedford, Megan Edwards turned in Sudbury’s winner at Chesham, Cambridge United came away 4-1 winners at London Seaward.

AFC Bournemouth’s Erin Bloomfield got three of their nine against Maidenhead, Swindon matched that tally versus Southampton Women. Moneyfields’ Charley Wilson-Wilton bagged a brace in the 3-1 victory at Keynsham, Worthing’s first win came by the same scoreline at Bournemouth Sports. Bristol Rovers’ first-ever FAWNL home win was over Bridgwater, Abingdon came from two down to draw at Portishead, Molly Lygo and Kara Howes with the replies.
