FA Women’s National League: Portsmouth and Exeter new leaders

Portsmouth and Exeter City are new divisional leaders in the FA Women’s National League, Leeds United caused an upset to reach the Plate semi-finals.

Northern Premier Division

Brighouse Town 1-0 Stoke City (Att: 125)
Liverpool Feds 2-4 Nottingham Forest (Att: 85)
Loughborough Lightning 1-2 Burnley (Att: 125)

Nottingham Forest lead by six points after victory at Liverpool Feds, where Sophie Domingo scored twice. Burnley moved level on points with Wolves in second, winning at Loughborough, Lucy Sowerby struck to lift Brighouse up to sixth.

Southern Premier Division

Bridgwater United 1-1 Crawley Wasps (Att: 108)
Cheltenham Town 2-1 Oxford United (Att: 120)
Gillingham 0-1 Portsmouth
London Bees 1-2 Plymouth Argyle (Att: 131)
Milton Keynes Dons 6-3 Billericay Town (Att: 216)
Watford 1-1 Ipswich Town (Att: 273)

Portsmouth replaced Oxford in pole position, getting the only goal at Gillingham, while United suffered a first defeat at Cheltenham. Fourth-placed Watford drew with Ipswich in third. MK Dons hit Billericay 6-3, Amber Pollock netted Plymouth a 90th-minute winner at London Bees, while Bridgwater were held at home by Crawley.

Leafield Athletic 3-2 Wem Town
Sheffield FC 0-2 Northampton Town
Sporting Khalsa 5-1 Lincoln City (Att: 20)
Leek Town 1-1 Solihull Moors (Att: 42)

Four teams now sit five points short of leaders Stourbridge, Solihull held at Leek, Doncaster hit Long Eaton for six, Sporting Khalsa and Leafield also victorious. Jade Bell got both goals as Northampton won away to Sheffield FC.

Chorley 1-3 Newcastle United (Att: 110)
Durham Cestria 2-0 Bradford City (Att: 50)
York City 4-1 Middlesbrough (Att: 55)

The top three all took three points; Durham Cestria, Newcastle and Barnsley, York beat Middlesbrough to climb to sixth.

Division 1 South East

Actonians 1-2 AFC Wimbledon (Att: 60)
Cambridge City 0-1 London Seaward (Att: 35)
Cambridge United 1-5 Hashtag United (Att: 65)
Chesham United 0-3 Ashford Town (Att: 25)
Norwich City 4-3 Queens Park Rangers (Att: 318)

Leaders Hashtag were 5-1 victors at Cambridge United, AFC Wimbledon leapfrogged Actonians into second, Norwich going third after edging a seven-goal thriller with QPR.

Exeter City won the top of the table clash with Cardiff City LFC to takeover the leadership, Swindon’s Annabelle Colston was on target during a draw at third-placed Bournemouth, while Moneyfields scored eight times

League Cup Quarter-Final 

Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2(aet) Huddersfield Town

Wolves head to Watford for a place in the final, letting a two-goal lead over Huddersfield slip before their extra-time decider.

League Plate Quarter-Final 

AFC Fylde 0-2 Leeds United

Leeds win at top-flight Fylde is rewarded with a home tie against Southampton Women’s FC.
