Italy got off the mark after equalising against Iceland for a 1-1 draw in a UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Group D game.
The game was less than three minutes old when from Sveindis Jane Jonsdottir’s long throw, Karolina Lea Vilhjalmsdottir put the loose ball into the top corner.
Iceland should have doubled their lead after the hour mark but Alexandra Johannesdottir put the close-range effort wide.
Italy went straight down the other end to equalise, Barbara Bonansea’s pull-back fired home by Valentina Bergamaschi.
Bonansea hit the post and Flaminia Simonetti missed the target when well placed, while Jonsdottir had a great opportunity to win it for Iceland.
But it was a first point for Italy and second for Iceland, who face France in their final group game.
