Swansea City won through to the FAW Women’s Cup Final with a 5-1 defeat of Port Talbot Town at Penybont FC on Sunday 4th March.
The two semi-finalists had already met twice in the Orchard Welsh Premier League this season, the Swans 4-0 victors away from home in December but then held 2-2 as hosts in January.
Swansea had an effort ruled out for offside before taking a 24th-minute lead, Jodie Passmore’s shot blocked by goalkeeper Bethan Ellis but Stacey John-Davis was on hand to out away the loose ball.
Passmore doubled the lead when she connected with Sarah Adams’ cross and after Port Talbot’s Vicki Stratton hit the woodwork, City made it 3-0 with Adams netting at the second attempt, following up her lob which hit the crossbar.
It was game over in the second half when Katy Hosford headed in a Passmore cross to make it 4-0.
Terri Beddows did then pull one back from the penalty spot on 57 minutes after a foul on Laura May Walkley but John-Davis soon rounded off the scoring with her second goal of the day.
The second semi-final is on 11th March at Taffs Well FC, where Cardiff City FC take on Cyncoed.
