Glasgow City’s Costa Rican forward Priscila Chinchilla is the first foreign player to win the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

She played a pivotal role during the season climax, starting seven out of their eight games in May, scoring six goals during the month including a brace in a vital 2-0 win away to Rangers.

Speaking from Costa Rica, where she is currently on International duty, Chinchilla told womenspremierleague.co.uk: “I’m so happy to have won this award. Winning the league title with Glasgow City was always my main goal but to be recognised for my contribution is an amazing feeling.

“Moving to a new country and adapting to many new things is never simple but everybody at the club have made things as easy as possible. I’m enjoying playing football in Scotland for Glasgow City and I feel I’m making a positive impact in the team.”

Chinchilla also received the Coaches’ Player of the Season award alongside Janine Van Wyk.

Also nominated for the SWPL May award was former winners Colette Cavanagh (Hibernian), Lisa Robertson (Celtic), and Michaela McAlonie (Spartans).
