Scottish Building Society SWPL 1 title rivals Glasgow City and Hibernian both had big midweek wins, Celtic and Rangers each won 3-0 away, while Motherwell extended their lead in SWPL 2 as Kilmarnock drew despite two red cards.
High fives for reigning champions
Glasgow City held the leadership of SWPL 1 with five goals at Hamilton Academical.
An Abi Grant curler had City ahead and Leanne Crichton met a ball from Hayley Lauder at the front post to make it 2-0 with the interval approaching.
A cut back from Megan Foley saw Lauder score at the near post and then Foley got on the scoresheet herself after a couple of shots were blocked.
Carly Girasoli’s bullet header from a City corner was the fifth and final goal.
Hibernian remain three points of the top with a game in hand after hitting Forfar Farmington for six.
Hibs struck twice in six minutes midway through the first half, with Abi Harrison crossing for Rachel McLauchlan to fire home and Kirsten Reilly heading in at the back post from a Robertson delivery.
After the break, Reilly turned provide for a Lizzie Arnot tap-in and it was 4-0 when Kirsty Smith played in Harrison to score.
Another Smith assist saw Jamie-Lee Napier slot home before Harrison doubled her tally with a solo effort.
Third-placed Celtic 3-0 winners at Stirling University.
The Hoops missed a penalty to go in goalless at the break but the SWPL Player of the Month for May, Colette Cavanagh, broke the deadlock.
Kathleen McGovern scored her first ever goal for the senior side and Kelly Clark rounded off the win.
Rangers gain ground on Forfar in fourth with 3-0 victory at Spartans.
Rangers took only 4 minutes to go ahead against the basement side, with Caitlin O’Hara looping the ball over the goalkeeper.
A second timely goal arrived 5 minutes before the break, Sarah Robertson the scorer.
Into the final 10 minutes and Amy Muir’s effort found the back of the net despite ‘keeper Rachel Harrison getting a hand to it.
Motherwell move ten points clear in SWPL2 after fighting back to beat Hearts 4-1.
Hearts caught Motherwell on the counter-attack in the 27th minute, Courtney McAvoy setting up Ashley Carse to round the goalkeeper.
The home side did not take long to level as Kerry Montgomery hit the target from distance and they took the lead when Lauryn Reside followed up Megan Burns’ spilled shot in the 57th minute.
Two minutes later and it was 3-1, Hayley Cunningham converting a penalty after a hand ball from a Suzanne Mulvey cross.
Hearts’ captain Danni Pagliarulo was sent off after a second yellow card and Mulvey then completed the scoring when returning a clearance into the back of the net.
Killie draw despite two red cards
Second-placed Kilmarnock managed a 1-1 draw at Glasgow Girls, despite having two players sent off in a three-minute spell late in the game.
Leigh Ferrol got an early goal for the hosts but Kilmarnock levelled from the spot just after the half hour mark.
The two dismissals saw the visitors down to 9 players for the last 9 minutes but Central could not take advantage.
Vale victory
Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale stepped further clear of the drop zone by beating third in the table St Johnstone 4-0.
Hutchie hit two goals in the opening 18 minutes, Kerr playing the ball through for Anna Hume to take a touch around the defender and slot home, before Katherine Smart set up Beth Macleod for a fine finish.
Sophie Boeckh won the ball in midfield for Smart to extend the lead after half time and Anna Hume got the fourth inside the hour mark.
Central sink Dons
Central Girls Academy are off the bottom on goal-difference, at the expense of Aberdeen, whom they sent to a 4-1 defeat.
