Republic of Ireland Women lost 1-0 to Denmark at Tallaght Stadium, in Vera Pauw’s first international friendly game in charge.

Denmark took the lead on nine minutes through Nicoline Sorensen, when the ball fell kindly to her unmarked inside the penalty area.

Ireland went closest to equalising on 53 minutes, when Katie McCabe cut inside and fired past goalkeeper Lene Christensen but against the crossbar.

Substitute Ellen Molloy was wide with a shot from distance, while Grace Moloney had to be at her best to deny Signe Bruun in a counter attack and later also thwarted Sorensen.
