Republic of Ireland went down to an early goal against France in Metz, as they began their UEFA Women’s EURO Qualifying Group A3 fixtures.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto got the only goal of the match after just six minutes, Ireland making four key blocks and goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan earning the Sky Ireland Player of the Match award.

Defender Anna Patten impressed on her Ireland debut, while Aoife Mannion put in a big shift in the wing-back position, with the visitors having to cope with a lot of pressure and 21 shots at their goal.

Ireland next host England on Tuesday 9 April 9th at the Aviva Stadium.
