Northern Ireland recorded a 4-0 win against Wales in their final game before the UEFA U-19 Championships.

Two goals from Rebecca Bassett, one each by Emma McMaster and Louise McDaniel sealed the win, after the Irish had defeated the Welsh 3-0 on Saturday.

With their opening finals game against Spain kicking off on 8 August at Windsor Park, it was the last chance for the Northern Ireland players to prove they should be in manager Alfie Wylie’s squad.

The hosts took the lead in the SuperCupNI game after 8 minutes, as a corner was cleared into the path of McMaster, who hit her effort into the top corner past Wales keeper Emma Gibbon.

And it was soon two as Bassett marked her return from injury with a solo run and composed finish.

Chloe Chivers saw her free-kick for Wales tipped away before Bassett struck again, going past two defenders to finish low back across the keeper.

It was 4-0 just before half time, Gibbon parried Brenna McPartlan’s header only for McDaniel to net the rebound.

Bronwen Thomas missed out on a late consolation, chipping the ball over the crossbar.
