Charlton Athletic have signed Northern Ireland international attacking midfielder Rachel Newborough from Boston College in the USA.

Newborough played for the Northern Ireland U-19s as a 15-year old, competed in three under-age European Championships and made her senior international debut aged just 16.

In season 2017-18 she helped Doncaster Rovers Belles to the FA WSL 2 title.

Addicks Manager Riteesh Mishra told the club’s website: “Rachel has had a fantastic impression. The first week the feedback from my staff is some of the best I’ve received for a new player with getting the ground running and being a leader.

“She comes with good pedigree, experience at this level and I’m glad to add her to my squad.”
