Charlton Athletic have announced that following their promotion to the FA Women’s Championship, they have signed a four-year ground-sharing deal with Dartford-based club, VCD Athletic FC.
Leaving their home of several years – Sporting Club Thamesmead – the Addicks feel that the objective of increasing attendances is best served by moving closer towards their fanbase, and to a location that is easier to get to.
Charlton Chairman Stephen King told cafc.co.uk: “Having visited Oakwood a few times now, I’m sure we will benefit from the move to what is a bigger and more suitable location. There is far more parking available, more seating and more covered areas for spectators. The changing rooms are being refurbished and of course there are all the other facilities you’d expect.”
