Manchester City Women have announced that Canadian international Janine Beckie has extended her contract at the club until 2022.
Beckie – who has made 46 appearances for City – has shown her versatility on many occasions, as she’s played on both wings and has also filled in at right-back in the absence of Aoife Mannion, who suffered a long-term injury.
She has scored 13 times during her spell at the club so far and also netted 31 goals in 70 appearances for Canada.
Beckie follows Steph Houghton, Caroline Weir, Lauren Hemp, Kiera Walsh and Jess Park in committing her future to the club.
Speaking to the club website on her new contract, the the 25 year old said: “I am absolutely delighted to be extending my time here at City.
“The last two years have been more than I could have imagined and after the progress and memories I have made so far, there was no doubt when it came to making the decision to re-sign.”
City’s head of women’s football, Gavin Makel, added: “I am delighted that Janine has committed her future to the club.
“She represents everything that we are about – a player who has the desire to win and improve, whilst always putting the team’s needs above her own.”
There’s no doubt that Janine will continue to get better and better as she has done over the last couple of years.
