Bristol City banked a crucial victory with a 3-0 result over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Ebony Salmon scored twice as the basement side moved within two points of their nearest rivals in the table, thereby cutting Brighton’s advantage over them to four points.
It was a perfect start for the hosts, as with lees than three minutes played, Yana Daniels caught Cecile Fiskerstrand off her line to open the scoring.

Aimee Palmer went close with a powerful strike but the Robins did make it 2-0 after the half-hour, when Jas Matthews sent Salmon away to slot past the keeper.
A dozen minutes after the interval, Salmon converted from the spot following handball given against Victoria Williams, and she might have gone on to complete a hat-trick but later hit the post.
Brighton’s day went from bad to worse when Kayleigh Green was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Daniels.
