Reading’s Remi Allen has been selected as the FA WSL 1 Player of the Month for April.

Reading have enjoyed a fine month with midfielder Remi Allen leading the charge with a flurry of goals throughout April. Allen started the month in style, scoring against Manchester City as her side came away with a 2-0 win. She then scored twice more against Yeovil Town ensuring a convincing 4-0 victory away from home. Allen topped off a fine month once again finding the net against Everton taking her goal tally in this season’s FA WSL 1 to nine.

Allen fought off some tough competition from a competitive shortlist including Birmingham City duo Kerys Harrop and last month’s FA WSL 1 Player of the Month Winner, Ellen White. Kerys Harrop’s defensive acumen ensured three clean sheets in as many games, while Ellen White delivered a memorable hat-trick against former club Arsenal.

The FA WSL Player of the Month award celebrates the best players in FA WSL 1, FA WSL 2 and FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup. Each month, three players are shortlisted based on their performances before a media panel selects a winner for each division.

Presented with the FA WSL 1 Player of the Month award, Reading’s Remi Allen said – “I’m really pleased with my personal performances in April. I’ve scored important goals at important times for the team. It’s something I’ve worked on and tried hard to improve on this season so it’s nice that the hard work is paying off. The team’s aspiration for the rest of the season is to finish as high as possible. We know that third place is still a possibility so we’re working really hard to achieve that.”

Fans are able to get their FA WSL fix with a selection of live games on BT Sport, BBC Online and The FA’s WSL Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/FAWSL/) as well as live commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live.
