Blackburn Rovers beat Bradford City 7-0 in front on over 100 fans at Bamber Bridge FC on Tuesday evening, to go second on goal-difference in the FA WPL Northern Division.

Lynda Shepherd rose highest on a corner to open the scoring and Lagan Makin doubled the lead when firing home via the crossbar, while Hannah Campbell was inches from getting a goal back in first-half added time.

Four minutes after the restart it was 3-0, Saffron Jordan sending Natasha Flint through to drill the ball home and Jess Holbrook got the fourth from Makin’s pass into the box.

Bradford were then denied by the post before Makin bent a shot high into the net from distance.

Kelsey Pearson picked out Jordan to smash the ball past the keeper and after a Holbrook effort was saved, she set up Hannah Walsh for her first senior goal.

Rovers are now one of four sides on 34 points but in the strongest position, having five games in hand on leaders Middlesbrough, who are eight points clear.

Meanwhile in the Reserve Midlands Division, West Bromwich Albion went top with a 2-1 victory over third-placed Stoke City. Seanna McCann-Lloyd thumped home a last-minute winner, as the Potters 22-match unbeaten run was ended.
