FAWNL: Two red cards as Huddersfield Town Women reach Cup semi-finals

Each side saw red as Huddersfield Town made the FA Women’s National League Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 win at Brighouse Town.

League Cup Quarter-Final

Brighouse Town 1-4 Huddersfield Town (Att: 102)

Drew Greene gave Brighouse the lead but a Laura Elford brace turned the game in Huddersfield’s favour by half-time. Brittany Sanderson made it 3-1, before midway through the second half the hosts’ Annabelle Cass and visitors’ Georgia Marshall were both dismissed. Elford completed her hat-trick in the last minute, as the Terriers booked a trip to Liverpool Feds in the semi-finals on 6 March, when Southampton FC host Crawley Wasps in the other tie.

Division 1 Midlands

Long Eaton United P-P Doncaster Rovers Belles
Wem Town 0-1 Sporting Khalsa (Att: 49)
Leafield Athletic 1-1 Solihull Moors

Sporting Khalsa went seventh with Megan Cann effort around the hour mark being the only goal of the game at Wem Town, who are now three points from safety. Solihull Moors took a point at Leafield despite having goalkeeper Harley Savage sent off in the last ten minutes. Tiana Russell-Cartwright had given them an early lead but Chloe Shirley levelled on 11 minutes with a free kick.

Division 1 North

Alnwick Town P-P Durham Cestria
Norton & Stockton Ancients 0-0 Chester le Street Town (Att: 150)

Norton were held to a goalless draw at home to Chester le Street but went level on points with Durham Cestria in fourth, while their visitors are just goal-difference from getting out of the relegation zone but from more games than those around them.

Division 1 South West

AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Poole Town (Att: 142)
Portishead P-P Cheltenham Town

Bournemouth beat Poole Town 4-0 to move within two points of leaders Cheltenham Town, over whom they still have one game in hand. Jade Bradley, Becki Bath and Katie James netted in the first half, Lucy Cooper adding the fourth late on.
