Scottish Women’s Football have announced a new charity partnership with Simon Community Scotland.
Working alongside the Scottish Women’s Football League’s title partner Biffa, Simon Community Scotland will become the official charity partner to the Biffa SWFL, the regional grassroots leagues.
The partnership will see Scottish Women’s Football highlighting and supporting the services that Simon Community Scotland provides in Scotland, whilst raising awareness of the support available to those in need through the organisation.
This follows a previous link up between the organisations ahead of the last Women’s Scottish Cup Final in May, which highlighted the need for dignity for those experiencing period poverty, supporting the work the charity does to provide free period products to anyone at risk of homelessness in Scotland.
Simon Community Scotland are Scotland’s largest provider of homelessness services, providing outreach and residential services across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Central Scotland.
As well as combating the immediate effects of homelessness, the charity provides a 24/7 service to address the causes and wider impact, whilst ensuring those most in need have the access they require to practical and emotional support.
Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “Women’s football champions equality, and I am proud we have supported Simon Community Scotland’s work to eliminate period poverty. This partnership takes that further, recognising the important links our SWFL clubs have with the communities they are the heart of.
“I hope through this relationship we can highlight the causes of homelessness and that no-one is immune from it, as well as pointing anyone at risk to the support that is available.”
