Motherwell Development beat their East Fife counterparts in a Scottish Women’s League Plate Final shoot-out at Cumbernauld Stadium.

Kay Walker was unable to make the most of two early opportunities for Motherwell, East Fife’s Chloe Laing had her long-range effort saved comfortably.

Well had the ball in the net but the flag went up for offside, while Courtney Porter and Laing both went close for the Fifers and keeper Eilidh Hegarty denied Lucy Bryant their opener.

Bryant hit the bar approaching the hour mark, East Fife keeper Holly Bonellie made a brace save at the feet of Samantha McManus.

Both teams had the opportunity to threaten from free kicks deep in extra time, the Fifers coming closest as Lisa Fitzpatrick fired over the bar following an error from the keeper.

Hegarty having been let off the hook, she went on to save two spot-kicks to give Motherwell a 3-1 penalties victory.
