Spain and Barcelona’s injured star Alexia Putellas has won the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the second successive year.

Sidelined days before the Women’s Euros by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the 28-year-old midfielder had not only previously scored 42 goals but also made 22 assists last season.

She also top-scored for Barcelona with 11 goals in ten UWCL games as they ended up beaten finalists.

Putellas is the first player to win the award twice, this year topping the vote ahead of second-placed Beth Mead and Sam Kerr in third.
