The FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup group stage was completed as Colombia, Spain and Tanzania all secured their progress to the knockout rounds.
Colombia beat Mexico 2-1 to win Group C, Juana Ortegón’s opener added to by Linda Caicedo, before the latter put’through her own goal nine minutes from time.
Spain finished a close second after a 1-0 defeat of China, Martina Artero scoring just after the hour mark.
Japan beat France 2-0 to end on maximum points in Group D. Momoka Tanikawa put them ahead, Sayami Kusunoki sealing the victory in added time.
Tanzania’s draw with Canada was enough to send them through, Amanda Allen’s penalty cancelled out by Veroica Mapunda.
