#SWPLCup: Late brace confirms winning start for Rangers FC Women

There were three SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup points for Hearts and Rangers in midweek, likewise Livingston and Morton in the SWF Championship.

Rangers made a flying start to their cup campaign when Brogan Hay won a penalty after just 55 seconds and Megan Bell converted.

Queens Park kept Rangers to the single goal right up until the last 7 minutes, when Nicola Docherty crosses brought two goals, the first for Hay and the second at the end for substitute Daina Bourma.

Hearts put their first points on the board in their 5-1 League Cup groups stage win over SWPL 2 newcomers Boroughmuir Thistle.

Siobhan Higgins hit a hat-trick, Lisa Swanson and Jenny Smith the other scorers for the hosts, while Beth MacLeod got a late consolation for Thistle.

Morton went level on points with Championship South leaders Airdrie with a 4-2 victory over St Mirren. Airdrie were leading Ayr United 2-1 with about 20 minutes to go but the game was then abandoned.

Livingston banked their first points with a 4-1 defeat of Falkirk. Nicole Norris turned in a Rachel Walkingshaw corner, Shannon Mulligan doubled the lead via the post before Falkirk got one back. Rebecca Jaconelli scored from the edge of the box to make it 3-1 and Mulligan got her second from distance.
