#SWPLCup: Quarter-Finalists confirmed

Dundee United, Partick Thistle and Spartans all booked their Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup quarter-final places.

Group A – Boroughmuir Thistle 0-4 Rangers, Queen’s Park 2-3 Motherwell

Group B – Kilmarnock 2-4 Dundee United

Group C – Glasgow Women 0-4 Spartans, Hamilton Academical 0-6 Glasgow City

Group D – Celtic H/W St Johnstone, Hearts 0-0 Partick Thistle

Rangers, who had joined Aberdeen in qualifying from Group A when they defeated the Dons 5-2 in midweek, finished up with a 4-0 win at Boroughmuir. Lizzie Arnot won and converted a penalty, with Jodie McCleary, Emma Watson and Rachel; McLauchlan also on target.

All the goals came after the interval as Motherwell won 3-2 at Queen’s Park. The visitors led through Gill Inglis but goals by Abbi McDonald and Holli McIndoe turned the game in the Spiders’ favour, before Chelsie Watson levelled and Claire Crosbie headed the winner.

Kilmarnock needed to avoid defeat at home to Dundee United to stay ahead of their visitors and take the Group B second place behind Hibernian, however, the visitors won 4-2 despite a red card for Jade McLaren. She got an early goal for United and Rachel Todd netted their second, before Laura Neil and Shelley Campbell wiped out the advantage. But Tammy Harkin and Danni McGinley both scoring after the dismissal to restore a two-goal cushion.

Hamilton were tasked with taking a point of Group C leaders Glasgow City to join them in the quarter-finals but got hit for six. Taylor Fisher, Tyler Dodds and Agata Filipa all claimed their first goals for the City, Ode Fulutudilu, Vital Kats and Jo Love also contributed one each. Spartans went to Glasgow Women still hopeful of progressing and made it through after a 4-0 victory. Becky Galbraith notched a hat-trick and substitute Sarah Clelland also found the net.

Celtic were awarded a 3-0 score after St Johnstone could not fulfil the fixture to to Covid infections. That left Partick only needing to avoid a heavy defeat to advance as runners-up to Celtic, which they did with a goalless draw against Hearts.
