Lewes have signed 24-year-old Wales international Rhian Cleverly from French League 2 team Le Havre.
Cleverly – a centre-back or central-midfielder – previously played for three years in the US College system for Hofstra University, which included a spell at Bristol City.
Lewes manager Fran Alonso told the club’s website: ” We have been trying to bring Rhian to Lewes for a while so I am very happy we can finally do it. She brings a lot of international experience and also knows the top tier here in England having been at Bristol City. Rhian is a leader and suits perfectly the way we try to play. This is a fantastic addition to the club and I am delighted that she picked Lewes from all the offers she had on the table.”
Cleverly added: “I’m delighted to have signed for Lewes. I love the values and ambition of the club. To play for a team that cares so much about the growth of women’s football is very important to me. After visiting and speaking to Fran it was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.”
