Young Lionesses start UEFA WU17 Euros qualifiers with 6-0 win

England began their qualifying campaign for the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship with a 6-0 defeat of Northern Ireland on Saturday lunchtime.

The scoring was opened 16 minutes in by Arsenal’s Laila Harbert – who is dual-registered with Watford, Barry Town United’s Vera Jones getting a first-half brace and Leicester City’s Denny Draper also finding the net in-between.

Draper completed her own double six minutes after the restart, Southampton’s Sophie Harwood completing the scoring late on.

The match can be watched back here, with the Hungarian Football Federation’s YouTube channel live-streaming all the games in the group.

Hungary beat Belgium 1-0 in the other tie, with a 44th-minute Dora Szabo goal.

The Young Lionesses next play group hosts Hungary at the Globall Football Park in Telki on Tuesday (3pm GMT), before finishing up at the BSC Stadium in against Belgium on Friday 10 November (2pm GMT).

Northern Ireland play Belgium at 12pm at BSC Stadium on Tuesday and then Hungary on the Friday, 2pm at the Globall Football Park.
