Yeovil Town Ladies Get Team GBR Duo

Centre midfielder Chloe Lloyd and centre back Gemma Evans both recently represented Team GBR and now back in the UK, they have signed for Yeovil Town.

Lloyd and Evans had been training with the Yeovil squad, prior to their departure for Chinese Taipei, where they played for Great Britain at the World University Games.

Both Lloyd and Evans are students from the University of South Wales and the Glovers say they bring with them, a hunger and desire for the upcoming season, which starts on 24th September with a home match versus Manchester City at Huish Park.

Midfielder Chloe Lloyd told yeoviltownladies.com: “I’m delighted to have signed for Yeovil Town. The girls have been really welcoming. It’s going to be a tough season, but I’m excited to see what it brings.”

Both players have been on the radar of manager Jamie Sherwood for some time. Yeovil believe Lloyd will boost the midfield area of the pitch, while with her passing, vision and calmness in possession, she will be a good addition to an already strong central area. Evans meanwhile, will secure up the defence, which will have to be resilient against some of the best forwards in the world and use her game understanding and knowledge to her advantage.

Gemma Evans, who identically to Lloyd, is a Wales International, has competed at the elite levels on the world stage, including playing against the European Champions Netherlands back in July, ahead of EURO2017.

On signing, Evans said “It feels good to have finally made a decision and to sign for Yeovil Town Ladies. I look forward to the challenges ahead at a great club, with a good bunch of girls.”

Lloyd and Evans, will be in the squad for this Sundays pre-season friendly against Oxford United and Sherwood commented: “Chloe and Gemma are two players which will give everything they’ve got to help this team and club succeed.

“The recent changes in personnel makes our squad a young, energetic and hungry team, who will support each other and run until they physically can’t run any more.”
