#WPWL: Swansea City Ladies go top after derby victory

In the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League top of the table clash, Swansea City were 2-0 winners over rivals Cardiff City FC.

Swansea City sent rivals Cardiff City FC home beaten 2-1, after second-half efforts from Katy Hosford and Stacey John-Davis. The result saw the Swans extend their 100% start to replace the Bluebirds at the top of the table, as the visitors dropped their first points.

Abergavenny got off the mark when coming from behind to defeat Port Talbot 2-1. Courtney Thomas had the visitors ahead close to half-time but Carys Bufton levelled and Abi Powell netted an 80th-minute winner.

Cyncoed twice hit back to draw 2-2 at Briton Ferry. Ela Roberts and Sophie Topper had the hosts ahead but Alison Witts’ brace saw the points shared.

Cardiff Met jumped to the top of League Cup Group 2 when hitting hosts Aberystwyth Town for six. Four goals came after the break and there was one apiece for Robyn Pinder, Sophie Hancocks, Lucy Finch, Micaela Milavec, Erin Murray and Madison Schupbach.

Llandudno will meet Llanfair United in the second round of the Welsh Cup after a 9-1 victory at North Wales League side Corwen, where Jordanne Greenhough led the way with a four-goal haul.
