#WPWL: Swansea City Ladies complete double over defending champions

Swansea City maintained their 100% record in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League when repeating an early season 1-0 win over Cardiff Met.

Cyncoed 1-3 Port Talbot Town
Swansea City 1-0 Cardiff Met

Lauren Smith fired into the bottom corner from outside the box in the 19th minute and that proved enough for the Swans to make it seven wins in a row and move nine points ahead of Cardiff Met, who have one game in hand. Smith almost forced a second goal in the dying minutes, Lucia Carpanini’s attempted clearance of her low cross hitting the bar.

Second-placed Cardiff City FC stayed within three points of the leaders when sending Abergavenny to a 5-1 defeat. Danielle Green hit a hat-trick, Kate Jeremiah and Catherine Walsh got one each, Laura Davies replying just before the break.

Port Talbot Town went level on points with Cardiff Met but from two games more, following a 3-1 win at Cyncoed. Carys Davies scored in te opening minute and although Alison Witts equalised in the second half, Laura May Walkley immediately restored the advantage and substitute Kirsty O’Donnell made sure of the points late on.
