Cardiff City FC won 2-0 away to second-placed Abergavenny to leave Cardiff Met still four points clear at the top of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League.

WPWL results for 25 November

Abergavenny 0-2 Cardiff City FC
Briton Ferry Llansawel 0-4 Cyncoed
Llandudno 4-0 Rhyl
Swansea City 5-1 Port Talbot Town

The Bluebirds went fourth in the table with two goals in the first quarter of the game at Abergavenny. Alana Murphy opened the scoring on 8 minutes and Cath Walsh netted the rebound from Danielle Broad’s parried effort.

Swansea City leapfrogged Port Talbot Town into third spot when sending them to a 5-1 defeat. The Swans had the points tied up by half-time, Stacey John-Davis, Katy Hosford and Sophie Hancock all scoring in the first half hour and Emma Beynon volleying home from a corner. Port Talbot did reply early in the second half but John-Davis later completed her brace.

Llandudno began Sunday goal-difference below Rhyl but picked up their second win of the season with two goals in each period. Anna Jones’ opener was added to by Mari Gibbard just before the break, Jones later got her second and Stacey Tradewell rounded off the scoring.

Cyncoed ran out 4-0 winners over Briton Ferry, who have now lost all seven games after winning promotion back into the WPWL. Caitlin Bevan and Hayley Hoare shared the spoils with two goal apiece.

Remarkably, three pairs of teams are to play each other on the successive Sundays with the League Cup quarter-final fixtures on 2nd December. Abergavenny and Llandudno again host Cardiff and Rhyl respectively, Swansea this time travel to Port Talbot, while the other game is a local derby between Cyncoed and Cardiff Met.
