WPWL results – 1 March
Cardiff City FC 0-0 Swansea City
Cardiff Met 1-0 Aberystwyth Town
Cyncoed 2-1 Briton Ferry Llansawel
Port Talbot Town 4-0 Abergavenny
Cardiff City FC held Swansea City to a goalless draw, thereby ending the leaders’ 100% league form. It was the Swans first game without 2018-19 WPWL Young Player of the Year, Shaunna Jenkins, who has left to start a career in the Royal Air Force.
Cardiff Met moved to within a point off the leaders from a game more having been restricted by basement side Aberystwyth to a single Erin Murray goal on 55 minutes.
Briton Ferry Llansawel looked on course for only a second league win of the season after Renee Day gave them the lead just after the hour mark at Cyncoed. But Athina Varnava bagged a brace for the hosts to send them home without a point.
Port Talbot Town put four past Abergavenny, first-half efforts by Courteney Thomas and Jessie Taylor added to by Bethan McGowen and Laura-May Walkley.
