Cardiff City FC and Cardiff Met both won 4-1 in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League and Cyncoed completed a hat-trick of victories for the capital sides.

WPWL results – 19 January

Abergavenny 0-2 Cyncoed
Cardiff Met 4-1 Port Talbot Town
Cardiff City FC 4-1 Aberystwyth Town

Cardiff City FC moved within three points of leaders Swansea City, albeit from a game more, as they beat basement side Aberyswyth Town. Kate Jeremiah’s early goal was cancelled out by Emily Thomas but second-half efforts from Kanisha Underdown, Catherine Walsh and Alana Murphy sealed the points for the Bluebirds.

Third-placed Cardiff Met were similarly pegged back by the break before striking three times after the restart to see off Port Talbot Town. Sophie Hancocks’ opener brought a reply from Bethan McGowan, before Aimee Dagnall, Lucy Finch and Erin Murray all hit the target for the Archers.

Cyncoed climbed to fifth place with two goals at Abergavenny, Millie Jones breaking the deadlock on 49 minutes and Lauren Lyons doubling the advantage.
