Melbourne City edged Sydney 1-0 in the Westfield W-League Grand Final, which was played behind closed doors at AAMI Park.
City skipper Stephanie Catley played a one-two with Emily van Egmond and hit a shot which was too hot for goalkeeper Audrey Bledsoe to handle, opening the scoring on 16 minutes.

Van Egmond’s long-range effort was kept out by Bledsoe, while Kyah Simon’s lob hit the crossbar.
Four minutes into the second half the scores were almost levelled but midfielder Ellie Carpenter denied Veronica Latsko.

Simon broke through the defence but was inches wide, before Bledsoe kept Sydney in the game when saving Van Egmond’s shot on the turn.
Down to the last 10 minutes and Lydia Williams protected the lead when making a diving save to thwart Princess Ibini-Isei, as City went on to win their fourth Championship in five years.
