Wins for Derry City and Linfield in Sports Direct Women’s Premiership

Derry City went fifth and Linfield beat third-placed Lisburn Rangers as they secured Friday evening away wins in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.

Linfield got all three goals of the game to go level on points with their hosts and also second-placed Cliftonville – who have two games in hand – but trail leaders Glentoran by three points.

Abi Sweetlove opened the scoring for Linfield after just three minutes, Keri Halliday doubled the advantage close to half time and added her second before the hour mark.

Glentoran had hit hosts Mid-Ulster for six on Monday, Nadene Caldwell’s early goal added to in the second half by Rachel Rogan, Jenna McKearney, Demi Vance, Sofie Keenan and Aimee Kerr.

Derry City began the day level on points with Crusaders Strikers, their victory lifted them above mid-table Lisburn Ladies.

Caoirse Doherty made the breakthrough with the only goal of the match, 17 minutes from time.
