Birmingham City have signed 28-year-old defender Siobhan Wilson who recently left fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side Crystal Palace.

Joint-top goalscorer last season with Palace, Wilson becomes Darren Carter’s first signing of the summer, in agreeing a one-year deal with the option of a second.

Wilson spent two and a half years at Crystal Palace, earlier playing for Charlton Athletic, Spurs and Enfield Town.

She had also played abroad in the US with Clayton State University and Georgia State University, helped Malaga win  promotion to the Spanish top flight and also had a short spell in Italy with UD Sassuolo.

Talking to BluesTV, Wilson said: “I’m buzzing to be here and glad to get it over the line. Speaking to Darren [Carter] and Jo [Potter], I just felt it was the right move for me at this time.

“I know I’m going to get good coaching, the experience I’m going to get from them will improve me as a player.”
