Chelsea return to Budapest for their ‘away’ leg against Wolfsburg, defending a 2-1 advantage as they look to beat the German side for the first time and line up a semi-final clash with either Bayern Munich or Rosengård.
Wolfsburg were 3-1 winners at next-to-bottom Sand in the Frauen Bundesliga on Sunday but remain five points short of leaders Bayern, who hit basement side Duisberg for six.
Chelsea head coach, Emma Hayes, told chelseafc.com: ‘Our concentration and focus has to be extremely high because I expect even more relentless pressure from Wolfsburg.
‘They are Champions League finalists, multiple times. We are winning at the halfway point but they have the experience of being in this position, so I expect the game and the challenges that they throw at us will be even bigger than they were in the first leg.’
Manchester City have a real task on their hands, with a three-goal deficit to make up at home to Barcelona, who defeated Sevilla 3-0 in the Primera Division on Saturday.
Cityzens midfielder Keira Walsh told mancity.com: “We have to believe in ourselves. We have to take the game to them.
“We’ve got nothing to lose. We’re going throw everything at it and give it a right good go.”
Lyon or PSG await the winners in the penultimate round, with both also having won league matches 3-0 away on Saturday, at Dijon and Montpelier respectively. However, a new date for their second leg is now awaited, with the whole Lyon squad in quarantine.
