Arsenal lost 2-0 to VfL Wolfsburg in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Quarter-Finals 2nd Leg, going out 3-1 on aggregate.
VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 Arsenal (Agg: 3-1)
Lyon 3-1 Juventus (Agg: 4-3)
Wolfsburg took a ninth-minute lead via a corner kick, Jill Roord scoring from close range against her former side.
Tabea Wassmuth had what would have been a second for the hosts ruled out for offside and Svenja Huth was denied when Manuela Zinsberger saved with her feet.
The advantage was doubled 18 minutes from time, Sveindis Jónsdóttir crossing and Leah Williamson slicing an attempted clearance through the legs of Zinberger.
The Gunners were unfortunate not to have soon got a goal back, Vivianne Miedema heading against the crossbar and Williamson’s follows up tipped onto the post by Almuth Schult.
Lyon overturn deficit against Juve
Lyon struck twice just after the half-hour mark to turn round the tie which Juventus had led 2-1 from the first leg in Italy.
Ada Hegerberg brought the aggregate scores level nodding home a Selma Bacha delivery, Melvine Malard then quickly giving Lyon the advantage when heading home Lindsey Horan’s cross.
Catarina Macario extended that in the second half from a cut back by Delphine Cascarino but Andrea Stašková headed home from a corner with six minutes left, to make for a tense finale.
