England forward Toni Duggan has left Bareclona to join Atletico Madrid who beat them to the Spanish League title last season.

Duggan has agreed a two-year deal with Atletico having played for a similar spell with Barce, in which she scored 29 goals in 72 games.

The 28-year-old told the Rojiblanca: “I am very happy to play at Atlético de Madrid. It is a club that is very supportive of the women’s team and the staff it has are very good.”

“I am a winner and I come to the club to help you in everything I can in all competitions. Last season’s game at the Wanda Metropolitano made me realize how big this club is.”

Atletico versus Barcelona earlier this year attracted a record-busting crowd of 68,000.
