Former Manchester United defender Tara Bourne joins Sheffield United after a previous loan spell during the 2021/22 season.
Bourne returns to the Blades on a permanent basis after spending last season with Birmingham City, where she helped the team to a second-place finish in the league.
The 20-year-old has also been a regular in the England youth teams over the years and made 12 appearances for United during her initial loan spell.
Speaking about returning to the club ahead of the new season, Bourne said: “I’m really happy. I had a really good conversation with the manager and what I wanted aligned with what he said the ambitions of the clubs were, so it’s perfect for me.
“I feel like I’ve learned a lot since I was last here. It’s amazing to be at Bramall Lane, it shows what the club is pushing to do, I can’t wait to get going.”
Head coach Jonathan Morgan said: “I’ve watched Tara from afar for a number of years and I’ve always been impressed in the games I’ve seen her play in. One thing that was a big attraction for me was her versatility, it’s key to have a number of players like that, but another thing that was massive was the more background research I did on her the more apparent it became she’s a fantastic character and a real team player and that’s integral to any success we want to have.”
