#SWPLCup: Galbraith hat-trick seals second win for Spartans

Spartans made it back-to-back wins in the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup group stage and Aberdeen defeated Hearts 2-1.

GROUP A

Glasgow Women 2-3 Spartans
St Johnstone 0-6 Celtic

GROUP B 

Queens Park 1-6 Hamilton Academical

GROUP C

Aberdeen 2-1 Hearts
Boroughmuir Thistle 2-4 Stirling University

Other games postponed

Spartans made it two wins from two in Group A when seeing off a fightback by Glasgow Women. Becky Galbraith’s brace was cancelled out by Cara Henderson’s double but Galbraith’s third goal on 75 minutes was the winner.

In the same group, Celtic ran out 6-0 winners at St Johnstone where Sarah Ewens hit a hat-trick.

Hamilton Academical made a strong start to the Group B ties when hitting hosts Queens Park for six. Amy Anderson struck twice, with a goal apiece from Dionne Brown, MT Gardiner, Ella Kane and Georgie McTear.

Group C’s sides played their first games and Aberdeen took the points 2-1 against Hearts. Lauren Gordon’s opener for the Dons brought an equaliser by Aisha Maughan on 70 minutes but Eilidh Shore soon restored the lead.

Stirling University won 4-2 at Boroughmuir Thistle, a slender first-half advantage extended with the help of a Naomi Welch brace before the hosts got two very late consolation goals.
