Only one Scottish Building Society SWPL match survived the snow and that turned out to be a goalless draw.

Celtic went level on points with the Scottish Premier’s leading pair – Glasgow City and Hibernian – when held 0-0 at home by Spartans.

Celtic’s Josephine Giard had a goal disallowed before being denied when one-on-one with goalkeeper Eartha Cumings, who then turned another chance onto the woodwork.

In the last 20 minutes, Spartans’ Michelle Russell brought a close-range save from Megan Cunningham, while Kelly Clark’s effort from the edge of the box deflected wide for the Hoops.

Double defeat for Buchan, East Fife win goal-fest

Only three other games were played across Scotland, two of those at Buchan and each ending in home defeats.

Buchan began their league campaign with a 4-2 home defeat to Inverness City in SWFL 1 North and in 2 North, Buchan Youth lost 5-2 to Montrose, who doubled their points tally as leaders.

Elsewhere there was a goal-fest, as East Fife won 8-5 at Cove Rangers to go top of 1 North.
