Hibernian cut Glasgow City’s lead in the SBS SWPL 1 to two points from a game more, after bottom of the table Stirling University had held out for more than 70 minutes before losing 3-0.

Cailin Michie and Amy Gallacher combined to set up a chance for Hibs’ Jamie-Lee Napier but it was well saved at close range by Rebecca Sjogerud.

Soon after the restart, Lia Tweedie could not quite get enough on Napier’s cross, the latter then playing a through ball to Colette Cavanagh but the keeper blocked the shot.

Ria McCafferty came off the bench for Hibs and swiftly had a volley blocked but with 19 minutes to play it was Michie who broke the deadlock, with a long-range strike hitting the roof of the net.

The lead was double on 79 minutes when Rachel Small delivered the ball for Cavanagh to head into the bottom corner.

Hibernian added a third in added time, Kirsten Reilly ending some head tennis by nodding home.
