Montrose have been promoted to SWPL 2 after winning the Scottish Women’s Championship North with a 4-1 result over East Fife.

Megan Maver gave them an early lead at Links Park, Anna Grant fired home from the edge of the box, before Charlotte Gammie crossed for Aimee Ridgeway to head in the third goal.

Although second-placed East Fife quickly hit back with a long-range effort from Teri Skivington, in the second half Eilidh Reid’s corner was headed towards goal by Gammie and the rebound tapped in by Ridgeway.

The 4-1 result made it 18 wins in 19 league games for Montrose, put them a dozen points clear of their visitors and with a massive +124 goal difference.

Meanwhile in SWPL 2, champions Dundee United won 7-0 at Stirling University, second-placed Boroughmuir Thistle were held 1-1 at St Johnstone, Glasgow Women gaining on them with a 3-0 victory at Kilmarnock.
