Two goals in the space of eight minutes had City in control at the Hummel Training Centre, Claire Shine having been earlier denied by the post.

When Rangers failed to clear a 21st-minute corner, Lisa Girasoli headed the ball back towards goal and Eilish McSorley nodded home.

Rachel McLauchlan doubled the lead from outside the box, firing high into the net, as City went on to make it 14 straight wins.

Carla Boyce went close to reducing the arrears early in the second half but her effort was deflected wide and a succession of corners came to nothing.

Meanwhile, Celtic Academy went second in the SWFL 1 South after an 8-0 win at Hamilton Academical U-23s on Tuesday.
