Sunderland have signed Rachael Laws and Ellie Stewart ahead of the new FA Women’s Super League Season.
Goalkeeper Laws re-signs for the club after spending the Spring Series with Durham, whilst Stewart joins as a free agent after previous spells with Liverpool, Everton and Blackburn.
Alongside their playing duties, the duo will lead on SAFC Ladies’ Partner Club programme which allows grassroots clubs to link up for extra coaching sessions, camps and tournaments. The scheme is part of the FA Sister Club programme and will be offered to girls and boys teams in the North East and schools.
Laws told sunderland.fawsl.com: “I am pleased to be back at Sunderland and looking forward to the new season.”
“I enjoyed my time at Durham and I was very grateful for the opportunity, but Sunderland has been my home since I first signed for the club as a teenager. I am really looking forward to the new season ahead.”
Stewart said: “I cannot wait to get started. The girls have made me feel very welcome and I am looking forward to the challenge of Super League One.”
