A number of sides are already through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup on 2nd September, while the remaining Preliminaries are being played this Sunday.
The first games on the Road to Wembley were played last Friday and Sunday, while this Thursday evening saw Clapham-based AFC Phoenix edge out hosts Sutton United 2-1 at Gander Green Lane.
Sutton threatened an upset when going ahead against the side two divisions above them but the visitors levelled by half time and hit a second-half winner, to set up a home tie with Bexleyheath side Phoenix Sports in the next round.
